Bells, Bubbles and Rice

It's the little things combined that make for one fabulous event.

Through the ages many wedding traditions surrounding have been passed down and many of these traditions have symbolic meanings.  Most often they are meant to wish the couple well in a certain way. The wedding chapels of Las Vegas often accommodate some of these traditions today and sell the necessary items within their facilities.

The tradition of ringing wedding bells has been around for many hundreds of years and throughout history bells often rang out from churches where the events took place. Today, we modify the tradition by purchasing small individual bells to ring as the couple walks out of the venue to start their new life together.

Throwing rice also goes back centuries and has been under some scrutiny lately, as it was said that the tossed rice has some negative affect on birds. To alleviate this problem, more couples have started purchasing small bottles of bubbles for guests to blow at them in place of throwing rice.

I have heard of other traditions around the world, certain countries throw candy and others throw wheat at the couple.  The best thing about bubbles and bells is there is no clean up involved.

Enjoy your weekend!

Cheers,
Connie
