A Fabulous New Years Wedding!

Greetings and Happy New Year!

You know I like to talk all about weddings and I hope that some of the information inspires someone out there to make their wedding day into an event that is memorable for all that attend.

Now, in Vegas I coordinated many weddings on New Years Eve, some as late as 12:30 a.m.  It was always an exciting time to work for me as there was always something interesting about people who chose such an evening full of excitement for their nuptials.

It's an odd time of year to think of having a wedding, but it can be fabulous! One color combination that is popular is silver and lavender.  A bridal bouquet with lavender roses and silver ribbon can be very nice.

One thing to think about is to check the hours of the Marriage License Bureau and be sure to purchase the license in advance of the wedding. As always, I hope your wedding will be fantastic wherever it is and however you decide to plan it.

Christmas Nuptials.....

A wedding at Christmas time can be fabulous!  With all the lights and rich decor through out many cities and event facilities, this time of year is a magical time for a wedding.  In coordinating weddings during this season I  found overwhelmingly that red with varying other colors like black, white or gold are usually incorporated.  Along with red flowers, you can expect to see red ties and cumber-buns for the groom and his men, likewise, red dresses for the bridesmaids. If there is any draw back to having a wedding during this time it is that the weather and crowds may pose a problem for those traveling from certain parts.  Many weddings during this time can be perfect with just the two or for a small family affair.  Also, keep in mind that the courthouse that issues the marriage licenses may have special hours during the holiday season.  It's always a fabulous time to have a wedding. All the best to you during this Christmas week.  Cheers!

A Musical Accent....

For many of us in the western world, there is a very familiar tune to which brides walk down the aisle at the start of the ceremony, we call it, "Here comes the bride".  Many don't know the formal name is
"Bridal Chours" and that it was written by a German composer named Richard Wagner in 1850. The song was originally used in an opera called "Lohengrin".  Traditionally used at the end of weddings is Mendelssohn's Wedding March in C major.  Interestingly enough, there are some cultures that play the songs in the opposite order with Mendelssohn first and Wagner for the exit.  There are other classical pieces which are typically used at weddings, for instance  there is Vivaldi's Spring, Cannon in D and Air from "Water Music."

Somehow, I came to prefer the musical selections that were more meaningful, they often brought more tears to the eyes of participants and guests.  Many couples use the song that they first danced to or the song that imparts the feeling of our times.  These songs sometimes brought home the message of why the couple got together or how appreciative they were for finding this special situation.   Some couples use the traditional music for the entrance and exit and use a contemporary song for the lighting of the unity candle.

Couples renewing vows can accent their ceremony too.  There are a number of songs which impart "still the one" or "through the years" kinds of messages.

You know, fabulousness like beauty is in the eye of the beholder, don't be afraid to make your day special in anyway that you see fit.

Have a great holiday season!

A Thanksgiving Wedding

I hope you had a great weekend.

It could be fabulous to have a marriage ceremony this time of year.  Some choose Thanksgiving day or sometime during the weekend for their ceremony.  I have coordinated weddings on Thanksgiving before and found the couple chose to host a ceremony when all their family could come together and spend the special holiday weekend as group.
As  far as the palette of colors is concerned it could be an opportune chance to have a wedding with a truly unique theme.  Another twist on the event could be the emphasis of thankfulness or gratitude which is in the spirit of the holiday and is also a feeling found at the heart of a good relationship.

Have a great and prosperous week.
