Style and Color

Once a color scheme is chosen for a wedding, it is important to be consistent with the theme and use those colors for more than just the wedding party's attire.  The design of the wedding cake, invitations, the flowers for the ceremony and for the reception all should tie into your color palette.  Many wedding facilities in Las Vegas will be happy to assist you with making your wedding dreams come true.  Although, you have to actually know what your dream is in order for it to be fulfilled.  If you are dealing with a venue where you will be custom ordering flowers and decor for the reception, it's important to give a clear vision of what you will be expecting on that day.  Most couples who marry in Vegas live in other states and countries and only see the chapel and their selections on the day of the event. Giving clear direction is essential, especially when choosing a color or pattern that is unusual.  It would be best to ask if you can send the venue a picture or swatch of the material that you are using for the dresses, vests or ties. Bride's even send pictures of bouquets and cakes that are unique so that the staff can evaluate whether they can provide what you are asking them to prepare.  In the end, it's worth it to do the extra thinking and leg work to ensure that after traveling across the miles your day will be fabulous!

Bride and Dad's Best Comments

I have so many great stories to tell about my experiences in this industry and I am so grateful that I was given the chance to experience these special moments in so many peoples lives. It is fabulous when a father walks a bride down the aisle before the ceremony, symbolically giving her away. It's touching because there are so many little comments that are made before the doors are opened and the bride walks into her new life. There are little assurances from the dad that this will be a wonderful time in her life, that she's chosen the right one or that they still can go out for ice cream from time to time. The groom waits at the front with the officiant and the groomsmen for the doors to open and the music of their choosing should start to play.  Coordinators will always ask if a bride is ready to walk down the aisle before opening the doors. When brides think they are ready sometimes they will say "open the doors...no wait....okay open....wait and finally she is ready to be presented". It's understandable this is a big moment and the beginning of their ceremony and she is the focal point as she walks down the aisle.  Technically speaking, the father or some other representative generally walks on the right, she takes his arm and when the two arrive at the groom, the father shakes the groom's hand and then takes his daughter's hand and puts it into the groom's. This is not a crucial part of the whole process,  there are lots of scenarios, sometimes the mother walks the bride down the aisle, sometimes the bride walks alone and sometimes couples walk together.  I've even seen a groom walk into the bride.  In any case the wedding can still be fabulous!

A Popular Question.....

A lot of people ask about the time frame in which people are normally married in Vegas. Most are surprised to know that many weddings are planned well in advance of the date.  Sometimes a year or more in advance.  There are people who plan weddings within a week or weekend, it actually happens all the time.  I have seen thousands of weddings and I appreciate each story for its individual beauty.  Only they know what is happening inside their relationship and that's the way it should be. As far as anyone can see these are people that feel they are marrying their best friend or simply someone that they never want to walk out of their lives and they call it love. 

St. Patricks Day Weddings

What about a fabulous St. Patrick's Day wedding in Vegas?   It is rather popular, especially with Scotch/Irish couples who choose flowers, clothing and music to emphasize their heritage. Brides even request green flowers at times.  It is possible to dye flowers and some wedding chapels may offer this service. However, I would recommend finding flowers that are naturally green.  Cymbiduium orchids and hydrangea are widely available and look beautiful in varying styles of bouquets.  As far as formal wear,  there is normally the appropriate green color for bridesmaids dresses and green can be found within the vests, ties and cumber-buns of the groomsmen.   A certain number of grooms wear kilts with their tartan pattern on them. There are also a number of bag pipers for hire on this day and they are often used in place of the modern CD selection used during most ceremonies today. Many brides will carry the color scheme through to the reception where the table clothes, napkins and centerpieces can be accented with green.

Room Service...Please!

Would it not be fabulous to have a beautiful view along with your elegant reception dinner?   With a small amount of guests, many couples use Room Service to cater a reception in their suite.  Some Room Service departments offer extensive menus for events.  There is everything from steak to lobster and from Heineken to Dom Perignon.   Likewise, the department usually is more than happy to order flowers for the occasion.  Custom made wedding cakes are also usually available through the same department.

It's a unique option and there is no need to skip having a reception because you didn't bring your whole town.  There are lots of resorts offering all types of suite at varying prices.  Shop around and I'm sure you find something wonderful.
